Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve final poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest players in the world. While participating in online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have never heard about. Gus can be seen gambling on web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes omaha hi-low and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
