NL Holdem Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?


Howard Lederer lived in a family of 5 in which he liked playing numerous card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming really aggressive in these particular card games while playing his dad. After graduating from high school, Howard made a decision to place higher education on hold for a bit and headed to New York City to compete in some serious chess. While participating in chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s initial two years were difficult as he played countless hours and do not win most times. He earned some additional money by being an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He judged he possibly could boost his game by balancing his life away from poker. He made an attempt to get more rest and focus even more on the game.

The real advancement in his skills began when he started gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best gamblers would frequently compete against one another. Howard was able to access several of the foremost minds in chess. With their assistance, he would tweak his logical thinking abilities. He applied these strategic concepts to the game of NL hold’em.

He also assisted his sister Annie Duke learn poker. Annie was an excellent student of the game as she would always be asking questions about how to make the correct decision. He told Annie to move out to Sin City and play in the World Series of Poker tournaments. She is one of the strongest female players the poker world ever. Howard relocated to Sin City in 1993 and played cash games for the next 10 years. When the WPT gained popularity, Howard made the decision to compete in more tournaments.
