Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the final table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found playing online poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
